About this Event
Come join representatives from the Natural History Museum for an interactive workshop on surveying for wildlife in HGS as part of their national Nature Overheard project
https://www.nhm.ac.uk/take-part/monitor-and-encourage-nature/nature-overheard/nature-overheard-survey.html
Join Giuliana Sinclair the Community Science Officer at Angela Marmont Centre for UK Nature (part of the NHM) to help us survey land surrounding St Judes, within 10m of a road, including identification through audio recordings.
During the workshop she will:
- Divide into groups and each surveys individual rectangles of greenspace along the same road.
- I will give an introduction to the survey and perhaps run a mini insect-ID quiz
- Each small group will survey their own rectangle of greenspace:
- Taking a 5-minute audio recording – we can do a mindfulness activity during this
- Doing a short visual insect search, noting down any insects seen (the booklets have ID guides, and the mini quiz at the beginning will help)
- I will be moving between groups to answer any questions or to enjoy a particularly fascinating insect found!
