About this Event
Nature Guardians - Autumn Crafts
Join us for a family fire lighting activity with a campfire on Tewkesbury Nature Reserve. Learn about fire safety with this basic introduction to fire lighting for all the family. You'll have a chance to use a flint and steel to have a go at lighting your own mini fire, before contributing to a larger campfire and toasting marshmallows. Due to difficulties in sourcing alternatives, please bring along your own marshmallows if you need to cater for any specific dietary requirements.
The children will work in small groups to use a flint and steel and try using different fire starting materials safely. If you have your own flint and steel, feel free to bring it along but this is not required.
Meet at Base Camp, on the nature reserve. You can park at our car park and walk over (10-15 minutes walk). From the car park, walk down the path next to the sign, cross the bridge and turn left. You'll find your way to Base Camp. If unfamiliar with the reserve, we suggest you meet us at base camp using this road address for nearest access: end of York Road, GL20 5HG. There is street parking here and it's just a short walk down to Base Camp. What3 Words ///dugouts.internal.promotion
In case of extreme wet/windy weather or flooding on the nature reserve, there is no indoor alternative. You will be notified on the day by email if we have had to cancel. Please check your emails before you travel and if you're unsure or need more details on where to find us, contact Hannah on 07983705354.
Please book a ticket for each child attending. This activity is recommend for ages 6+ due to safety and independence using a flint and steel and for safety around the campfire. It is not recommended that younger siblings attend. All children must be accompanied and closely supervised by an adult.
