An in-person workshop exploring movement and wellbeing with Action, Movement, Peace.
About this Event

This April, across three panels and workshops, we’ll be looking at the intersection of climate and health. Many of us may already know that time in nature is beneficial towards our mental health but how does the climate crisis, access to nature and our own nature come into this?

Join us online on the 27th April to engage in a really special workshop designed for 15 people. Attendees will get a chance to engage in practice, network, ask questions and reflect on their own Creative Health and nature practice. On Saturday the 27th Alys (from Action Movement Peace) will be leading a workshop all about using play, movement, meditation and games to connect to our internal natural landscapes as a way of feeling connected to earth's ecosystems. She will be using drama to empower and play with future visioning techniques.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes. St. Margaret's has a vegan cafe on-site and attendees will have access to the cafe during the workshop as well as surrounding green space.

About Alys Pearce

All her life Alys has wondered at nature, played in the Welsh forests, and been lucky enough to travel well and discover the limitless beauty of the planet. In doing so her love for the environment set seed deep within her. Alys knew she had to dedicate her energy towards sharing the voice of the earth, to protect it. Alys has arranged events, written and performed shows, protested, engaged more politically and practised more behaviour change in her own life to lessen her demand on the Earth's resources.

Alys's background is predominantly in the performance arts and achieved her undergraduate degree from Exeter University in BA Drama, an excellent course that highlighted the many practical uses of drama in creating social and cultural change. Alys has also trained in permaculture, undertaking a short course at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) in Mid Wales in order to learn more about the principles behind it.

With Alys's training in drama and passion for nature she decided to direct her energy towards creating a show, which in turn required starting her own independent theatre company - Action Movement Peace (AMP). AMP provide a 30-minute show and an accompanying workshop, which Alys has delivered both digitally and in various spaces including community gardens, festivals, and educational fairs across Wales and England. The show is suitable for ages 0-11.

Alys is currently studying an MA in Applied Theatre to further the sustainability and ethical practice of her company. She intends to grow her personal skills to collaborate across sectors and is in the process of meeting people and organisations in the arts, climate and business to educate and address the solutions needed to be acted upon.
