Craft a beautiful, personalised ring - a perfect treat for yourself or a thoughtful gift for someone special! This 3-hour taster class is designed for absolute beginners, though all skill levels are welcome to join the fun.
You will be guided step-by-step through the core techniques of silversmithing. You'll start by practicing basic texturing, cutting, and shaping with traditional jewellery tools using copper or brass. Once you’re comfortable, you'll move on to crafting your final piece in sterling silver.
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn to:
Measure your finger and cut the metal strip to the perfect length.
Create unique surface textures using a rolling mill, hammers, punches, and even natural elements like feathers or leaves. You can stamp names, dates, whatever you like.
Work safely with a jeweler's torch for heating and soldering the metal.
Finish your ring with sanding and polishing techniques.
By the end of the class, your beautiful, custom-made sterling silver ring will be ready to wear.
This is an ideal activity for individuals, groups of friends, or visitors to the city looking for a creative experience.
What's Included:
All practice materials (copper and brass).
A strip of sterling silver for your final ring.
All necessary consumables (sandpaper, solder, chemicals).
Use of all tools and equipment.
Important Note for Young Makers: Kids aged 12 and over are welcome to attend, but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an enrolled parent or caregiver. Extra metals are available for purchase in the studio.
Workshop fee is $165, Early bird pricing $148 (ends 2 June).
