Dates: Wed July 22 - Fri Jul 24 1pm - 4pm each day. Sales end: Jul 15, 5pm. Ticket: $100 + Eventbrite fee. Instructors Gina Truhart and Amber Ostaszewski. Materials fee: $35. Skills Needed: beginners as well as experienced natural dye enthusiasts. Class Limit: 8. Class Location: outdoors & 2nd floor. Minimum Age: 16.
Come explore the harvest of the Weaver’s Guild dyer’s garden and discover the magic of creating designs on cloth. Throughout the three day workshop participants will learn a variety of mordant printing techniques and indigo shibori techniques. All materials will be provided as part of the kit for the workshop. Dye materials will be utilized from the Weaver’s Guild dye garden.
Each day is approximately 3 hour time block
Day 1:
- Preparing mordant and ferrous sulfate printing paste.
- Printing technique exploration.
- Break: Tea time
- Preparing shibori wrapping & tying.
- Observing indigo vat preparation with Amber.
- Clean up and allow projects to dry overnight.
Day 2:
- Preparing dye baths to submerge mordant and ferrous printed scarfs
- Continue preparing shibori wrapping & tying.
- Break: Tea Time
- While mordant dye baths are simmering – begin indigo shibori processes.
- Remove mordant and ferrous printed scarfs and rinse
- Clean up and allow projects to dry overnight.
Day 3:
- Continue shibori projects (untying could take time)
- Free time to use up leftover dye materials and try a different technique
- Break: tea time
- Show and tell of all projects.
- Clean up
Minimum age for registration is 16 years old. A minor must be accompanied by a registered adult.
Supplies to Bring:
- Please wear clothing that is appropriate to potentially get stained and dirty.
- $35 materials fee payable to instructor. at start of first day of class. Cash or Check only.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.
Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.
Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class.
Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
