About this Event
In commemoration of Native American Heritage Month, the Center for Healing Racism will present a free screening of “Black Indians: An American Story” on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. The film, winner of several prestigious awards in Native American filmmaking, is narrated by recently deceased actor James Earl Jones, may he rest in power, who was himself a Black Indian.
The in-depth documentary explores issues of racial identity between the mixed-descent peoples of both Native American and African American heritage, what brought them together, what drove them apart and the challenges they face in the 21st century.
The screening will take place at 3412 Crawford Street, Houston, TX 77004. Parking is available in HCC Lot 9. This event is free and open to the public with donations encouraged.
