Join us during National Library Week for a free screening of IndieLens Pop-Up's documentary: The Librarians - presented by WPBS in partnership with Mountain Lake PBS, Clinton Essex Franklin Library System, North Country Library System (NCLS), the Northern New York Library Network, and NYSED.
FILM DESCRIPTION: When Texas lawmakers seek to review a list of books, librarians find themselves on the frontlines of a national battle. Across the U.S., librarians face the impact of uniting against library collection standards that include restrictions on race-related and LGBTQIA+ content. Drawing on historical context, The Librarians explores the broader implications for education and public life.
The event will take place Thursday, April 23 at 6:00 pm at The Strand Theater in both Watertown and Plattsburgh, NY, with libraries throughout Northern NY hosting simultaneous watch parties (see list of locations below). Following the in-person screenings, NCLS will lead a panel discussion.
*Refreshments will be available for purchase from The Strand Theater concessions.
Admission is free & open to the public, but registration is required at wpbstv.org/events (Opens March 9)
