About this Event
I can remember studying this frightening pathology a few decades ago and this word only applied to truly mad dictators or those in a secure unit. It was seen as very bad and troubling as well as impossible to help. Prognosis I was taught was poor.
This webinar hopes to shed some light onto what we are actually talking about. What does Narcissism mean and where does it originate and how indeed do we or can we work with it?
Over the evening Simon and I hope to cover:
THE MYTH - THIS GIVES US THE IDEA OF CONCEPT
THEORY – THIS GIVES US A FOOTHOLD INTO A SLIPPERY SUBJECT.
PERSONAL/EXPERIENTIAL – THIS OFFERS US A DEEP KNOWING AND SOME GROUNDING IN THE SUBJECT.
THERAPEUTIC PRACTICE – THIS ALLOWS SOME REAL EXCHANGE.
We hope that this evening seminar will allow some light into the subject which in turn brings understanding and compassion for both self and other.
Facilitators are Noelle Adler and Simon Peck.
Simon Peck
I am an accredited counsellor and supervise SCC counsellors. I initially trained in an integrative model in Bath. Overtime my practice became more firmly rooted in psychodynamic ways. Seeing the impact of trauma on many clients and recognising how stuck both client and me were led me to embrace EMDR.
Noelle Adler
I am the Clinical Director at SCC. I am fortunate that this role has allowed me to employ skills that have been gathered over the years. I have worked as a therapist, supervisor and trainer over the last three decades. I am psychodynamic at my roots but like us all have grown into my own unique shape as a therapist. I am natively, a long-term practitioner but, I have done years of brief work for EAP schemes and within the NHS.
