Masterclass je rezultat Naominih 30 let dela na področju klovnovstva znotraj brazilske skupine LUME Teatro ter njenega študija pri svetovno priznani kanadski pedagoginji in režiserki Sue Morrison, ki je režirala njeno solo predstavo Nekraj Agade Tchainik.
Pristop »klovn skozi masko« je Naomi razvijala skupaj s Sue Morrison in združuje dve različni tradiciji: svete klovne severnoameriških staroselcev ter evropsko šolo klovnovstva. S prikazom in raziskovanjem mask (niza osebnih arhetipov, iz katerih se oblikuje posameznikov klovn) igralka pokaže, kako klovn postopoma pridobi svojo formo ter razkrije veščine, potrebne za »biti smešen«, pri čemer skozi improvizacijo in interakcijo z občinstvom gradi edinstveno dramaturgijo.
Trajanje: 90 minut
Primerno za vse, ki jih zanima klovnovska umetnost.

Naomi Silman je performerka, klovnesa in režiserka, članica nagrajene brazilske gledališke skupine LUME Teatro. Rojena v Londonu, je študirala gledališko igro na Goldsmith’s College, nato pa svoje delo razvijala pri priznanih mojstrih fizičnega gledališča, klovnade in butoha (Philippe Gaulier, Jacques Lecoq, Sue Morrison, Tadashi Endo idr.). Leta 1997 se je pridružila skupini LUME Teatro, s katero je kot izvajalka, avtorica in pedagoginja gostovala v več kot 20 državah.
LUME Teatro, ustanovljen leta 1985, danes velja za eno vodilnih referenc na področju raziskovanja igralske umetnosti. Skupina je nastopila v več kot 30 državah na štirih celinah in sodelovala s številnimi mednarodnimi gledališkimi mojstri. LUME Teatro je prejemnik nagrade Shell za življenjsko delo (2013). V repertoarju ima deset predstav, ki vključujejo različne performativne pristope, od fizičnega gledališča, klovnade in plesa do butoha, uličnega gledališča in velikih zunanjih intervencij. Poleg ustvarjanja razvija tudi bogato pedagoško dejavnost, ki vključuje delavnice, mentorstva, izdajo publikacij in mednarodne projekte, s katerimi poudarja gledališče kot umetnost srečevanja. Skupina deluje kot del raziskovalnega centra Univerze v Campinasu.

This master-class is a result of Naomi’s 30 years’ clowning work with award-winning Brazilian company LUME Teatro and her studies with Canadian world-renowned teacher and director Sue Morrison, who also directed the actress’s widely toured solo show “The Non-Place of Agada Tchainik”.
Naomi presents her experience of “Clown through mask” with Sue Morrison that combines two different traditions: the sacred clowns of the North American natives and the European school of clowning. Demonstrating and exploring the masks - a series of personal archetypes from which one’s clown is formed - the actress shows us how the clown gains shape and reveals the craft involved in “being ridiculous” and creating laughter from this, while building a unique dramaturgy through her improvisation and interaction with the audience.
Duration: 90 minutes

Naomi Silman is a performer, clown and director and a permanent member of award-winning Brazilian physical theatre group LUME Teatro. Born in London, she got a first class honours degree in Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmith’s College and went on to develop her work with masters in physical theatre, clowning and butoh such as Philippe Gaulier, Jacques Lecoq, Sue Morrison and Tadashi Endo. In 1997 she joined LUME with whom she has travelled extensively throughout Brazil and around the world performing in over 20 countries, as well as teaching a variety of workshops that transmit the practices and actor training developed by LUME. �

Founded in 1985, LUME Teatro has become a world reference in the research of the art of the actor. The company has performed in over 27 countries, spanning four continents and developed partnerships with theatre masters from around the world. Winner of the Shell Award in 2013 for lifetime achievement, LUME Teatro have currently in their repertoire 10 shows in a variety of performative languages including physical theatre, clown, dance, Butoh, street theatre and large outdoor interventions. The company also maintains a strong teaching tradition sharing their extensive research into actor training through workshops, mentoring, technical demonstrations, international exchanges, theoretical reflection, book publications, lectures and itinerant projects that celebrate theatre as the art of meetings and encounters. LUME is a funded research centre within the University of Campinas.
