Mythology of Movement: Yogic Stories of India with Vivian and TwinkleMyths are stories that help us understand human experience and our relationship to the sacred. Yoga, too, is a practice rooted in story, symbol, and tradition, though these elements are often left out of modern classes.
In this 90-minute workshop, join Vivian and Twinkle for an introduction to Indian yogic mythology woven into a slow, accessible yoga practice. The workshop will begin with a seated discussion and visual sharing, offering a “who’s who” overview of several key gods and goddesses from yogic tradition.
From there, students will move into a slow flow and yin-style practice, where familiar poses are paired with stories and themes introduced earlier. Movement will be steady and supported, with space to connect story, sensation, and meaning on the mat. The workshop will include traditional chanting to integrate the practice.
This workshop is open to all levels and is designed for students curious about the mythological roots of yoga, yoga teachers seeking to deepen cultural context in their teaching, and anyone interested in how story and practice can inform one another on the mat.
