MYTHOLOGICAL PLAYGROUND On the ‘mythological playground’ you are invited to explore yourself in relation to others through contact.
Encountering others we encounter ourselves. The encounter reflects us - our strengths and our challenges. By finding our sensory being and letting go of logical thinking, we can encounter ourselves on a more unconscious level - and through subsequent reflection we can link the sensed and felt experiences to our consciousness and gain a greater understanding of ourselves.
In the ‘mythological playground’ we start by connecting to ourselves as individuals. We guide you to find your way into your sensory being and awaken a listening contact. Based on the listening contact we then meet each other and ourselves in a series of short meetings two and two. We work with guided exercises; eye contact, physical contact and gradually opening up for more intuitive contact work. The mythological playground is a safe container, where you are supported in acknowledging and honoring your own felt boundaries.
We reflect on our experiences, both in the pairs that are formed along the way and together at the beginning and end of the workshop.
WHY MYTHOLOGICAL?
In the unconscious part of the psyche there are many different forces, resources and possibilities. Many of them have a characteristic we might call ‘mythological’: animal forms, common human characters, asymmetrical dynamics and much more. In the encounters we will invite you to open up and explore these aspects, which contain a much wider spectrum of possibilities than our normal personality. The playground is a unique opportunity to let unconscious elements come to the surface and subsequently become fully or partially conscious. It is integration work at its finest.
The unconscious, mythological parts of the psyche are not unimportant or just random. They carry deep importance and meaning for our lives. They are in many ways much more real than what our conscious mind is able to produce. Working with these aspects is therefore a way of working on becoming a more real version of oneself. It is playing, it is ‘for fun’, but it is also deeply serious and meaningful.
ALEXANDER TECHNIQUE AND LISTENING TOUCH
Alexander Technique is a type of bodywork that applies a listening quality in hands-on touch, which allows the nervous systems to communicate through contact.
The contact can help bring awareness to subtle internal sensations and to the constant interplay happening between body and awareness within yourself and with other bodies.
With the listening touch as the main tool we can direct our attention either inwards or outwards.
Inwards to listening to the subtle internal sensations, and outwards into movement, action and interaction.
Alexander Technique reveals that there is little to be taken for granted about bodily experiences.
Bodily sensations are multifarious and plastic - they can be uncovered, amplified, explored and articulated through conscious, intentional work.
The magic lies in the simple listening touch!
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a playground for mythological exploration.
We set the framework and provide guidance to explore your mythological reality through connection to yourself and to other people. We will introduce you to the listening touch and emphasize the importance of reflection and linking the experiences to your everyday life and personality, through dialogue and (co-)regulation of the nervous system. There will be guided exercises to start the workshop and then gradually moving into a more open playground of mythological exploration. No previous experience with similar activities is necessary - all you need is curiosity to explore!
