Mystery Making Mayhem at the Library:
An Interactive Event with Maine Authors Matt Cost, Allison Keeton, Maureen Milliken, and David Wilson
Audience members will work together with the authors to create a mystery on the spot! Attendees will be asked to create a character name, possible occupations, a setting for the mystery, a weapon that was used, and the motive for the murder. Yes, there will be a murder!
The authors will create a mystery from scratch, with audience participation, from beginning to end, while sharing insights into their processes throughout the program.
About the authors:
Matt Cost has written six books in the Mainely Mystery series starting with "Mainely Power," six books in the Clay Wolfe Trap series starting with "Wolfe Trap," and two books in the Brooklyn 8 Ballo series starting with "Velma Gone Awry." "EveryThing vs Max Creed" will be his second book in the Modern-Day Chronicles of Max Creed. A few historical fiction pieces fill out the shelves. Cost lives in Brunswick, Maine.
Allison Keeton is the author of the Midcoast Maine Mystery series. Besides mysteries, she writes for the Maine Crime Writers and Largest Ball of Twine blogs. She lives in Bristol, ME, with her muse, Tom, and their dogs. When she isn’t writing, she can be found paddling a river, hiking a trail, or reading at the beach. She can be reached at www.akeetonbooks.com.
Maureen Milliken is author of the Bernadette “Bernie” O’Dea mystery series, the fourth of which, “Dying For News,” won the 2025 Maine Literary Award for Crime Fiction. Maureen grew up in Augusta, Maine, and is mostly retired after a nearly four-decade journalism career. She co-hosts a podcast, Crime & Stuff, with her sister, Maine artist Rebecca Milliken, and lives in central Maine.
David Wilson is a Maine native born in Bangor. His career was been spent in law enforcement and criminal investigations. As a muti-genre author, he has published books in the categories of Maine humor, psychological thriller/horrors, mystery, and two award-winning memoirs. He’s currently living in the beautiful Augusta/Belgrade Lakes area with his wife and their pets.
