In this class we will prepare you to be ready to spend a night or two in the woods should something go wrong on your hike or hunting trip.
Becoming lost in the woods can happen to any of us, by being skilled in survival techniques what could be a disaster can become nothing more than an inconvenience and maybe slightly embarrassing.
In this workshop you will learn:
• How to plan for success and be prepared for when things go wrong
• How to stay calm, focused, and how to prioritize the Order of Survival
• Various ways to make and find shelter using materials at hand
• How to build, start and maintain a fire using various methods
• Ways to find or gather water and ways to purify for drinking
• How to maximize food available and identify common wild edibles
• Parts of a compass and their use
• How to take and follow a bearing using the compass
• Basic GPS navigation
This workshop will be a blend of demonstration and hands on practice and led by professionals.
