It's that special time of year again — and we're making it bigger and better than ever! The African American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) invites children and families to celebrate a major milestone: My First Library Card!
Join us on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM on the second floor in the Children's Room during the 2026 Africana Arts & Humanities Festival. This FREE event is open to children in Pre-K through 5th Grade.
This Year's Theme: America's 250th Anniversary — We, Too, Sing America!
In the spirit of America's 250th anniversary, we're celebrating the voices, stories, and contributions of our children in this great nation. Come dressed in red, white, and blue and get ready to show off your knowledge of U.S. presidents for a chance to win a prize!

Who Should Attend:
This event is perfect for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade and their families. Whether your child is signing up for their very first library card or celebrating a peer's milestone, everyone is welcome to join the fun!
