Wilful, tempestuous 21-year-old socialite Julie Merriday (pout-y sex kitten Joey Heatherton) is the wild child of Maine’s patrician old-money Merriday family. “If you don’t put a rein on that child, she’ll wind up in the morgue!” Aunt Sarah (Jeanette Nolan) snaps to Julie’s father Julian (Barry Sullivan), before rebuking Julie herself, “In less than a year you’ve wrecked a motorboat AND a car!” True to form, one day Julie runs a motorcyclist off the road while driving recklessly in her sports car. The biker is a moody, enigmatic loner called Ben Gunther (hunky male starlet Troy Donahue). The mutual attraction is instant (even though Julie is engaged to staid, respectable Harry (Nicolas Coster), who works in her father’s law firm). So far, so Lana Del Rey song, but Ben keeps calling Julie “Barbara Merriday” – the name of her great, great grandmother from 100 years earlier! In fact, he’s convinced they knew each other in a different life. What happens next? Join us 21 August at Fontaine’s to find out!
