Board Member Roles and Responsibilities
While no two nonprofit organizations are the same, every organization's board of directors has the same legal duties and other basic responsibilities. In this session, we will introduce the four legal duties of every board member, thoroughly covering the first three - duty of care, loyalty, compliance and to manage accounts - plus the 10 fundamental responsibilities of those responsible for governance of the organization. We’ll also share the attributes that make a strong board, and even cover the components of an effective board meeting.

Nonprofit Finance, Accounting and Fiscal Oversight
The fundamental role of a board member is to oversee the implementation of strategies to fulfill an organization's mission. This includes making certain the organization's resources are effectively managed and its assets adequately safeguarded. In this session we will discuss a nonprofit's basic financial statements and explore 10 common financial and operational controls. Finally, we’ll review budgeting, cash forecasting, and strategies to build long-term financial stability.
