To mark Eoghan Rua 375, Cavan County Museum hosts an evening of music and drama in Ballyjamesduff.A music recital by 17th-century instrument specialist Eamon Sweeney will set the scene for the evening. Eamon will play a programme of Irish–connected music from the late 16th and 17th centuries as well as Carolan’s ‘Lament for Owen Roe’. He will be accompanied by Rachel Factor on the virginal keyboard.
Following the recital The Hacklers present "Owen Roe - Outsider", a one act play with narration and dramatisation based on historical texts including the letters of Eoghan
Rua Ó Néill during his time in Ireland from 1642-1649.
The performance will include a poem written for the event by Mark Lawlor and ‘Lament for Owen Roe’ - a slow air played by the 2024 All Ireland Senior flute Champion Ellen O’Brien.
