Hill of Tara 7.30-8.30pm Samhain is one of the cross quarter dates in the Celtic Wheel of the Year and is the most solemn of all the eight fold celebrations.
It is at this time that the Veil is thinnest between the worlds, the time when the Ancestors draw near and are honoured.
Unlike the modern day celebration of Halloween (Oct 31st) which stems from the far more ancient feast of Samhain, now full of revelry and trickery, we celebrate this as a sacred time, on the astronomical alignment between Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice - which occurs this year on 7th November.
To our ancestors, the ability to fix these cusps in time to the nearest date was sacred knowledge. They left evidence of their advanced scientific understanding of the heavens in the astronomical alignments of the mounds and stone circles that dot our landscape. One of the most famous examples of this being the alignment of the rising sun as it shines into the Mound of the Hostages on the Hill of Tara at this time.
π· The Ceremony
We will begin our celebration of Samhain in Celtic Ritual, calling in the Winds of the Directions and establishing the Realms through the Irish and English language.
We will honour those who have passed to the Otherworld, especially those who have passed this year. I invite you to light a candle for them in this ceremony.
We will take a shamanic drum journey with our Guides. We ask for guidance in our healing work as we continue to clear ancestral karma, trauma, grief, shame...
We will share and allow the unfolding in whatever way feels right, the journey in, the journey out, witnessing each other, holding sacred space.
This is a gift we give to ourselves and give to our loved ones across all timelines and dimensions, and we will do it on holy ground.
We end the ceremony again in Irish with English translation.
