Music Moves Chicago Presents: Shekere Workshop

Join us weekly on Mondays at our FREE Shekere Workshop led by Uche Omoniyi and Quincy Raggs. Shekere Workshop is a FREE class that celebrates the West African gourd instrument used in traditional and popular music across West Africa and the African diaspora. This 10-week program offers space for participants to explore the history, cultural significance, and technique of the shekere, also known as chekere or agbe. For returning participants and seasoned players, the series also creates opportunities to deepen your relationship with the shekere and sharpen technique through collective practice.

As always, this class is FREE and open to the public. All levels are welcome, from first-time players to seasoned practitioners.We have 10 shekeres available, but please bring your own if you can.
