About this Event
Join us on June 11 at 7:00 pm for Music in Color: Oudflections, an intimate duet performance celebrating the rich traditions and contemporary evolution of Armenian music through the oud. Generously sponsored by Nancy R. Kolligian.
Featuring master oud virtuoso John Berberian and acclaimed contemporary artist Antranig Kzirian, this special evening brings together two generations of musicians in a dynamic exploration of sound, improvisation, and cultural expression.
John Berberian is a legendary oud master and one of the most celebrated Armenian folk musicians of his generation. A Columbia University graduate, he has performed internationally at venues including Lincoln Center and Town Hall, and recorded with major labels such as RCA and Verve. Known for pioneering early world music fusion, he blends Armenian traditions with jazz, rock, and folk, while remaining a dedicated mentor and community leader.
Antranig Kzirian is a leading contemporary oud artist known for his genre-crossing approach, blending rock, jazz, classical, and folk influences. A student of masters including John Berberian, he has collaborated with artists such as Serj Tankian and performs internationally. He is co-founder of TAQS.IM, teaches at UCLA, and continues to innovate the role of the oud in modern music.
