Music from 17th-century Vienna for violin, viola da gamba, and harpsichord:
Schmelzer, Bertali, Capricornus, Albertini, Froberger, Kerll
Long before Mozart, Vienna was already a vibrant musical center. This concert highlights composers active in mid-17th-century Vienna. Their music brims with invention, wit, and charm, with a wide expressive range, at times sounding as if from another sphere, and at others like the lively strains of a farmer’s fiddle.
Susanna Ogata – violin, Laura Jeppesen – viola da gamba, Andrus Madsen – harpsichord
