About this Event
Event Overview
Join us for a guided introduction to mushroom cultivation designed for beginners and curious learners who want a clear, practical starting point. Mushroom Growing 101 combines lecture, discussion, and hands-on instruction to help participants understand the foundations of cultivation in an approachable and supportive environment.
To maintain a high-quality, interactive experience, each class is limited to just 10 participants. Because of this, the same class is being offered on two separate dates to give more people the opportunity to attend.
During the session, participants will be introduced to core cultivation concepts, learn how the growing process works, and receive step-by-step guidance while assembling their own grow setup. The class is designed to build confidence, clarify technique, and provide real insight into the cultivation process, including common mistakes and how to avoid them.
Instructor Backgrounds
This class is led by passionate cultivators who bring a practical, experience-based perspective to mushroom growing.
M brings nearly three decades of experience cultivating plants and working with living systems. With a lifelong background in gardening and hands-on growing, M became more deeply involved in mycology following the passage of Colorado Proposition 122. What began as self-directed research developed into a committed practice shaped by experimentation, persistence, and continuous learning. M’s approach reflects the reality that cultivation is a skill developed over time through both success and failure.
Joining M is Davin, a Colorado-based craftsman and business owner originally from California. After relocating and establishing his stonework company, Superior Stone Craft, Davin discovered mycology through the local community and quickly became deeply involved. Starting with small-scale grows, he has expanded into agar work, liquid culture development, tissue transfers, and strain isolation.
Davin now serves as a captain within the Pikes Peak Myco-League, where he supports others in their cultivation journey, shares knowledge, and contributes to the growth of the local mycology community.
Together, M and Davin offer a balanced combination of long-term cultivation experience, modern techniques, and community-driven learning. Their teaching style is approachable, honest, and focused on helping others build confidence through direct, real-world experience.
