Cottonwood Center for the Arts is pleased to announce a juried exhibition for the month of May featuring works in response to an open call to the public: DREAMSCAPES
Human beings spend roughly 33% of their lives sleeping, which equates to around 26 years. Accounting for the average time spent falling asleep, you will spend 33 years of your life in bed.
I have dreamt my entire life about a farmhouse on the plains - one I have never seen before. I have dreamt my entire life about a mountain pass at sunset that doesn't exist, it runs alongside a cold river. I dream of impossible and terrifying storms in the sky, the smell of a pine forest, water, highways. I dream in faded blues and yellows. What do you dream, what have you seen, and what pieces of it do you carry with you?
For this call we asked artists to analyze and celebrate our unconscious lives. The worn-out edges of visions we grasp at every morning, and the colors and shapes you sort through when explaining them.
Non-representational and representational works were accepted for this call. Entries of all mediums and styles were accepted.
