Museum Ships Weekend 2026: USS Lucid (MSO-458) Starting June 5th at 5:00 PM through June 7th at 12:00 Noon
Join the Stockton Delta Amateur Radio Club and the Stockton Maritime History Museum for a global radio event! Every year, amateur radio operators across the world set up stations on museum ships to commemorate naval history.
● Location: 3100 Monte Diablo Ave, Stockton, CA 95203 (Across from Louis Park)
● International Participation: We are one of a few hundred ships participating globally on the air. Contacting at least 15 ships during the weekend qualifies operators for special awards. commemorative post cards are exchanged.

About the USS Lucid
● History: The USS Lucid is a miracle of preservation. Built in 1953, this wooden-hulled vessel was designed to sweep magnetic mines without triggering them. The ship served several tours in the Western Pacific and supported Operation Market Time during the Vietnam War. Three sister ships were built here in Stockton.
● The Restoration: After being used for scrap and even as a storage warehouse on the Delta, she is being meticulously restored to her former glory by dedicated volunteers.
● Why Wood? To stay "invisible" to magnetic mines, the Lucid was built without a steel hull—a rare feat for a ship of its size.

● Parking: Free parking is available at the end of Monte Diablo
● Donations: The Stockton Maritime Museum is a non-profit. Suggested $10 donation for adults not involved in MSWE goes directly toward the ship's restoration.
