About this Event

MOZART BALLET CONCERTO
Characterized by the elegance, emotional depth and masterful use of form, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed numerous concertos blending melodic beauty with sophisticated harmonic and contrapuntal writing. Inspired by “See the music, hear the dance” - George Balanchine, Chiara Ajkun’s ballet is a visual representation of music through movement, relying on her neoclassical vocabulary performed in her career of principal dancer.

This performance is part of the Theater Series.

The Show: each of Mozart’s concerto is unique and explores different musical ideas and textures. With a deep understanding of the composer’s vision, Chiara Ajkun creates dances that encompass exquisite pas de deux, virtuosic solos and skillfully orchestrated ensembles. Chiara interpretation captures a wide emotional spectrum, from serene and lyrical to poignant undertones, highlighting the technical excellence and insightful interpretation by the artistic authenticity of her exceptional dancers. The story of Mozart Ballet Concerto, Chiara Ajkun and her Original Art

On the wave of the success of Chiara Ajkun’s most recent ballet produced by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport of the Republic of Kosovo, the National Ballet Company has commissioned a second ballet to Chiara to debut in 2026 in the capital, Pristina. This time a neoclassical ballet, drawing from Chiara’s past as a principal dancer. One of the most influential choreographers of this century, Chiara Ajkun is actively creating for several national companies and the idea of Mozart Ballet Concerto, bringing together the greatest artists to dance in her ballet, was born. Mozart’s timeless compositions, resonating with listeners across different eras and background are the perfect combination for such creation.

Chiara Ajkun’s Mozart Ballet Concerto

Mozart’s visit to Mantua, Italy, the birthplace of Chiara Ajkun, is highlighted by a concert he performed at the Teatro Bibiena when he was just 13 years old (January 16, 1770). This theater, celebrated as a gem of the Enlightenment era, served as a backdrop for many of Chiara’s early performances. Fast forward few years, Chiara was working in Wien, the city where Mozart experienced his most prolific period, known as the capital of classical music. It is during her time in Wien that Chiara fully appreciated Mozart’s extraordinary musical genius, discovering intriguing parallels in their lives as child prodigies. Captivated by the melodic beauty, structural perfection and emotional resonance of his work, Chiara was inspired to choreograph a neoclassical style that infused her dance with emotions and narrative, diverging from the traditional plotless and emotionless conventions of the genre. Mozart Ballet Concerto is now part of The Originals, Chiara’s collection of new ballets performed by National Theaters in 27 countries and the signature repertory of the Ajkun Ballet Company.

The Originals is the collection of extraordinary art by Chiara Ajkun, one of today’s most influential choreographers in the world, whose creations form a pillar of visionary dance across 27 countries.

Chiara’s spectacular choreography is dynamic, elegant and expressive and her one-act shows are both insightful and entertaining. This signature repertory has earned Ajkun Ballet Theatre’s worldwide reputation and continues attracting the best dancers in the roster of the Ajkun Ballet Company.
