Well, we've been fielding questions about Movies on the Block ever since the end of last season, so... We're here to finally share the good news that our free movie screening series is back this year! We’re taking you to some mystical places this year, from Tempe to Hobbiton. Our second screening is "Raising Arizona" on Thursday, July 9. Here’s everything you need to know…
WHAT - Movies on the Block is InDowncity’s outdoor film series. It’s FREE! But show up early and bring your own chairs/blankets since there’s no seating provided and it’s first come, first served. Debuting in 2008, Movies on the Block was the city's first outdoor film series. In 2025, we brought the series back to PVD after a six year hiatus.
WHERE - Grant’s Block Park (the corner of Westminster St. and Union St. next to Ellie's and Oberlin) in Downtown Providence, RI.
WHEN - Once a month, June through September 2026, at dusk (so after sunset):
- “The NeverEnding Story” on June 11
- “Raising Arizona” on July 9
- “Clueless” on Aug. 13
- “The Lord of the Rings: the Fellowship of the Ring” on Sept. 10
