About this Event
"To perceive is to be the movement, not the object." - Etel Adnan, Journey to Mount Tamalpais
This session of Tender Possibilities will explore narratives of movement, displacement, migration, and return. Movement defines our stories. Migration embodies both the deeply human desire to move and the political conditions that often necessitate leaving one’s home. Our bodies themselves are dynamic vessels of movement, from the rhythmic cycles of breath and heartbeat to the profound transformations we undergo throughout our lives. By examining the intersections of life, community, place, and bodies, our aim is to uncover how movement and migration define and reshape our understanding of the world.
This session will be facilitated by featured poet Elizabeth Mudenyo and Tender Possibilities’ founder, Farhia Tato.
Elizabeth Mudenyo is a Scarborough-based poet, community-engaged artist and arts manager. Elizabeth is a fellow of The Watering Hole and the Poetry Incubator, and a participant of the Hurston/Wright Poetry Weekend with Danez Smith and Diaspora Dialogues Short Form Mentorship with Olive Senior.
