About this Event
Build confidence and learn the essential skills to get started with mountain biking in a supportive, low-pressure environment. This hands-on session introduces the core techniques that help riders feel more comfortable and in control on the trails, all while connecting with other young adults and enjoying an evening outdoors in the mountains.
This event is designed for beginner to beginner-plus riders who want to improve their foundational skills, gain confidence, and meet others who are also getting into mountain biking. No prior trail experience is required, but participants should be comfortable riding a bike.
Participants will be guided through key mountain biking fundamentals, including position and stability, operation of controls (braking and shifting), and terrain awareness. After practicing these skills, the group will apply what they’ve learned on beginner-friendly trails. Instruction is hands-on and supportive, with opportunities to ask questions and progress at your own pace.
The session takes place outdoors at Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park, one of the Bow Valley’s premier trail networks. Expect a mix of open practice areas and easy singletrack terrain in a scenic mountain setting.
Professional instruction and rentals are included in the registration fee.
This event involves moderate physical activity, including riding on uneven terrain and gentle climbs. Participants should be comfortable balancing and pedaling a bicycle. The program takes place entirely outdoors and is weather dependent. Trail surfaces may include gravel, dirt, roots, and small obstacles.
This session is led by experienced mountain bike instructors who specialize in teaching beginner riders and creating a fun, encouraging learning environment.
