KEYNOTE SPEAKER π£οΈ:
Perrin Abbas is a culturalQ Facilitator at the Multicultural Communities Council of South Australia (MCCSA), working at the intersection of community development, education, and anti-racism practice.
Her work draws on critical scholarship, including the ideas of Ghassan Hage, to examine the racial politics of Australian multiculturalism. Perrin focuses on how narratives of βharmonyβ can soften, depoliticise, or obscure structural racism, including the displacement of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination by Harmony Day.
At the MOSAIC Welcome Dinner, her keynote will challenge celebratory approaches to diversity and invite reflection on equity, power, and responsibility. Her approach is grounded in dialogue, lived experience, and practical frameworks for moving beyond symbolic inclusion toward substantive change in multicultural policy and community practice. Perrin's multidisciplinary foundation includes a Masters in Sociology, degrees in Political Science and Psychology, certification from the International Coaching Federation, and accreditation as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Perrin is also a passionate advocate for culturally and linguistically diverse voices being represented in suicide prevention, and is the Disability Inclusion Project Lead at MCCSA.
