The demonstration portion of this event will begin at 1:00pm. This is a demonstration event; attendees are encouraged to bring their projects for expert advice. Join us for an exciting and educational afternoon at the Mood Fabrics Showroom in Ponce City Market. This event is part of our new Mood Meetups series, designed to bring the local creative community together to "talk shop," collaborate on projects, and learn new skills in a high-energy, hands-on environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
The highlight of this meetup is a live, in-depth demonstration by expert maker Danesha Anglin. You will learn how to master elastic application for stretch swimwear fabric using only a standard sewing machine—debunking the common myth that a serger is required for professional results.
- Live Demonstration: Starting at 1:00 PM, Danesha will walk you through the technical steps of working with swimwear elastic.
- Skill-Sharing: Following the demo, attendees can ask questions and even try a step themselves under expert guidance.
What to Bring
- Your Current Projects: This is a collaborative meetup! We encourage you to bring your own sewing projects to work on, sketch, or seek expert advice from Danesha and Mood staff.
- Preparedness: While Mood provides a sewing machine and fabric for the live demo, no fabrics are provided for personal use. We recommend checking the Mood Sewciety blog for patterns ahead of time so you can follow along or plan your next make.
