ADVANCE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.Join Orange Audubon on our first free monthly trip for the 2026 year to two properties in Northwest Orange County.
We will start our trip at the northwest recreation complex ( Fields of Fame) located in Apopka. This is a well-known hotspot for winter ducks, such as Hooded Mergansers , Lesser Scaup , Ruddy Ducks, and sometimes rarities. It’s also a great place to look for gulls and terns as well as shore birds and some winter songbirds.
The second location we will visit is a new Orange County Green place called Lake Lucie Conservation area.
It is 166 acres located in the north west corner of Orange County. We will be hiking on a one and quarter mile loop on Sandy trails mostly shaded in this beautiful property. There are many mature Oak trees located here and some meadow views as well. We will be looking for winter songbirds, woodpeckers, and raptors as we enjoy this hilly property.
This trip is free, but spots are limited.
The leaders will be Alan Shapiro and Kathy Rigling of Orange Audubon
