Spring is abloom in Old Town Scottsdale, where the LDV Winery Tasting Room is buzzing with activities. Throughout May, there are multiple opportunities to enjoy a special event at the Tasting Room, or simply stop in for a glass of a favorite LDV wine and some light bites. Here is what is on the schedule for May:
Mother’s Day Special
Sunday, May 10 | All day
In celebration of Mom, the LDV Winery Tasting Room presents the LDV Winery Sun-Kissed Viognier Spritzer. It is available for $12 per glass or $35 per pitcher, plus tax and gratuity, all day long on Mother’s Day.
Les Dames d’Escoffier Cooking with Wine and Food and Wine Pairing Course
Tuesday, May 12 | 6:30 to 8 p.m. (MST) via Zoom
Not only is Peggy Fiandaca co-owner of LDV Winery, she serves as the president of the Les Dames d’Escoffier (LDEI) Arizona Chapter. During this Zoom course, Fiandaca will guide guests through the preparation of dishes using various wine-cooking methods (sauté, poach, braise, glaze and reduction) and share wine-pairing tips for every meal. The menu includes wine-sauteed stuffed mushrooms, wine-poached chicken breast, white wine-braised pork shoulder with herbs, wine-glazed onions, and red wine chocolate-cherry cookies. Participants will be able to ask questions during the live session.
The cost is $50 per person, which includes a shopping list, recipes and a copy of the video to rewatch. Proceeds from Cook Like A Dame online cooking classes go toward LDEI Arizona’s scholarship and grant program. To register, visit www.ldeiphoenix.com/cook-like-a-dame.
Winemaker Talk
Saturday, May 23 | 10:30 a.m. to noon
This month, the event focuses on LDV library wine tasting. Guests will be able to sample and discuss how select LDV wines are aging. The Winemaker Talk is complimentary for wine club members (gratuity is appreciated) and $20, plus tax and gratuity for non-wine club members, which includes wine and nibbles. Scottsdale Wine Trail Spring Wine Showcase
Sunday, May 24 | 3 to 6 p.m. at Anticus Art Gallery
This special showcase event includes participating tasting rooms around Old Town including Carlson Creek, Arizona Stronghold, Los Milics, Aridus, The Wine Collective of Scottsdale and LDV Winery. The cost is $50 per person, and includes 10 tastings, small bites and special event discounts on select bottle purchases. In addition to these scheduled events, popular ongoing events including Charcuterie Making, Wine and Cheese Pairing, and Le Nez du Vin (Wine Aroma Therapy) classes can be arranged at any time, based on availability.
