Join us for our August Moments of Time speaker event with Dr. Austin Lawrence!Presentation: Hips Don't Lie (About Human Evolution)
Dr. Austin Lawrence shares more about his research into human evolution and how our hips helped us to become who we are today!
Dr. Austin Lawrence is a paleoanthropologist and anatomist studying the diversity of musculoskeletal form and function in living humans, other extant primates, and fossil hominins, with an anatomical focus on the hip and pelvis. His research is focused on developing tools for interpreting the postcranial skeleton of fossil hominins to better understand the patterns and drivers of behavioral, ecological, and taxonomic diversity in human evolution. Austin completed his undergraduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder before earning his PhD in Integrative Anatomy at the University of Missouri. From 2023-2024, he was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy at the University of Chicago before joining Western University of Health Sciences in 2025, where he is currently an Assistant Professor of Anatomy in the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific.
