MOJO’S MEADOW OPENING SATURDAY 11th APRIL
We are proud to announce the opening of Mojo’s Meadow, a new natural space at Dog World.
Mojo’s Meadow is around 1½ acres of meadowland set aside as a haven for both people and wildlife. It is intended to be a peaceful place where nature is protected while people can spend quiet time outdoors.
The meadow is a semi-marsh habitat, with a natural stream running along two of its boundaries. Over many decades the land was home to numerous horses and ponies, whose grazing helped shape the biodiversity that exists there today.
The result is a rich and varied natural environment which we intend to protect, manage and gradually improve as a wildlife habitat.
We have already been advised that the area is good territory for barn owls and bats, and in time we will be installing barn owl boxes and bat boxes to encourage them to settle.
A perimeter path allows visitors to experience the meadow while protecting the central habitat. Over time we will also be adding timber benches around the path and a simple rain shelter so visitors can sit quietly and enjoy the surroundings throughout the year.
The meadow may be enjoyed in many ways, including:
• Wildlife and bird observation
• Quiet walking and reflection
• Outdoor wellbeing or nature-based classes
• Simply spending peaceful time in nature
To protect the environment and maintain the meadow’s calm atmosphere, Mojo’s Meadow is booked for exclusive use by the hour.
Access is available on a donation basis, with all contributions going directly towards the care, conservation and upkeep of the meadow. These donations are essential to allow the meadow to exist and to be properly managed.
The meadow will be open 7 days a week.
Bookings must be made in person at our main shop, where a specific booking form can be completed.
As with the all of Dog World of course dogs are welcome.
We are also pleased to confirm that NHU Detection Dogs have already booked Mojo’s Meadow for the opening weekend (9th and 10th April) where they will be running a specialist detection dog training course.
Mojo’s Meadow is an important step for Dog World — creating a space where nature is respected and people can find a little peace.
