ABOUT Mavis Pan
Mavis Pan is a composer, pianist, singer, and conductor, who presents a blend of East and West, Classical and Jazz, Sacred and Secular. Her travels throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States have gathered flavors of a multitude of cultures, now blended into her compositions, which range from popular to avant-garde, from ballad to art song, from solo instrumental to full orchestra. Born in Taiwan, Mavis emigrated to the USA when she was seventeen and majored in jazz piano performance at New York University, continuing her studies at Columbia University, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Music and Music Education and at Brooklyn Conservatory, where she earned a Masters in Musical Composition. She has performed in venues such as Carnegie Weil Hall, Lincoln Center, and Symphony Space and Flushing Town Hall.
Her choral work “A Christmas Carol” was recorded by the Kiev Philharmonic for the Holiday Album with ERM label. She has released five albums: “On My Way Home,” “Not Alone,” “Set for Love,” and “Inside.” Her latest album “Rising,” featuring her original jazz quintet compositions, produced by Grammy Award winner Ted Nash, had received critical acclaim. “Rising” was selected as number 8 Jazz album of 2024 in Textura and will be premiered at Merkin Hall on March 29th 2025.
