About this Event
In her recital, Mitra Kotte presents female composers of the 19th and 20th Century including works by Cécile Chaminade, Amy Beach, Dora Pejačević, Nadia Boulanger, Maria Hofer and Vítězslava Kaprálová. Women composers have faced many obstacles in their professional careers. Despite the difficulties, however, they have created outstanding pieces of music that continue to touch audiences today. The selection of works provides a historical overview of women’s compositions in Western classical music and highlights the diversity of their compositional styles and musical ideas.
