Have you ever accidentally told a colleague you like her tiger? Or tried to show off your secondary school French - with disastrous consequences?
“MISTRANSLATED” is a stand-up comedy show about the absurd and hilarious side of speaking (and mis-speaking) languages. Part travelogue and part master class in getting fluent fast, it features tales of languages mistakes and the perils of relying on Google Translate. Because who needs AI when you can show off your basic Mandarin to steal the heart of someone else’s grandmother?
Got your own mistake stories from that one time in Italy you accidentally said "ano" instead of "anno"? Audience members are invited to share their stories to remind us all of the hilarious pitfalls that befall every language learner.
MISTRANSLATED debuted at the Tallinn Fringe and since then has been toured in Southeast Asia and around Europe where audiences have described the show as --

Comedian
Erica Jean (@ericahatesfun) is a travelling polyglot comedian from the US who has made her share of mistakes in 12+ languages and counting. Erica performs in SEVEN different languages and has showcased her witty and quirky comedy in 25 countries, or everywhere from Albania to Mongolia.

Good news - this is a pay-what-you-want show! That means you are welcome to enjoy the show totally for free. Contributions at the end are encouraged, if you had some good laughs and learned something.

Venue
The Buxton Conservative Club is just outside the main Fringe foot traffic. There is a staffed bar open for those who wish to grab a drink before the show.
Running Time
The show will last for 60 minutes – just long enough for a good laugh in between a late lunch and a night out!
Doors open 20 minutes before the start time. Please arrive promptly
