Mishbaka Records is launching a new series called Elementa which asks each artist to make four tracks which correspond to the four elements (fire, water, earth, and air). We ask a second artist to do a remix as a representation of the fifth element, aether.
The first EP of the series will feature Eric David Hoegemeyer with a remix by John Tejada. You can find more info about the release below.
To celebrate the release we’re throwing a chillout event in collaboration with BKE Kombucha Brewery. We’ll have two live performances, a listening session for the EP, and selections by several DJs ranging in genre from ambient to dub techno.
The event will take place in the courtyard of the kombucha brewery. There will be a fire pit and lots of comfy lounge seating. BKE will serve their delicious and nutritious kombucha on tap as well as an assortment of adoptogenic beverages.
The event will begin in a meditative/contemplative place and move into more danceable music as the night progresses.

Voicing Earth’s ancient mysteries through cutting-edge cybernetic sound, the enigmatic ambient EP — “Elementa 001: Eric David Hoegemeyer” — captures the surreal interplay of earth, water, air, fire and aether through five cinematic tracks, as Hoegemeyer asks his listeners: In an age of noise and speed, what does it mean to return to elemental awareness? The Earth may transmit its ancient messages until its final days, but are we, as cosmic beings, still attuned enough to receive them?
While the all-distracting digital age ruptures humankind’s bond with nature, Hoegemeyer’s mind-bending sonic architecture re-constructs the building blocks of existence, illuminating beauty and chaos as Earth’s natural cycles garner powerful new meanings in our technological age.
The forest’s dank, bristling undergrowth germinates in microscopic detail through EP-opener, “Root and Stem.” “Between Drops and Waves” envisions water particles merging into the ocean, planting musical voyagers amidst the lonely regions of the bewitching, mystical Sea.
“Ever Expanding” picks up eclectic oddities of psychedelic jazz; daggered with the infinite potential of our expanding universe, capturing the enchanting dance of air-borne life radiating within. Composed during a ceremonial retreat in the Colombian mountains, “Astronomy Mine” interlaces mantric chants and insect chirps within a sublime, droning soundscape, soaked in ancestral vibrations which draw us back to the genesis of spiritual connection.
LA-based luminary, groundbreaking DJ-producer and Reggie Watts collaborator John Tejada supercharges “Root and Stem” in a final, invigorating remix, manifesting Aether (Spirit) through minimal techno, balancing warehouse atmospheres with the glimmering quietude of mystical immersion.
Releasing on September 16th, “Elementa 001” will kickstart NY-label Mishbaka’s all-new “Elementa” series — each EP innovatively transforming Earth’s traditional elements into the unfiltered serenity of sound. Through this first installment, Hoegemeyer twines tradition and transformation into an unforgettably conceptual musical experience. As our species surges towards a technological utopia, Hoegemeyer’s sonic art reawakens the natural world within us, entangling our roots in Earth’s aeonic tapestry of magic, mayhem and mystery.
