Mirroring Manuscripts: The Fusion of Reader, Writer, and Text in the Works
Victor Calderin’s life as a reader began in early childhood, setting him off on an odyssey through books that led him to study comparative literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and to serve in his role as Associate Professor of English today at Miami Dade College. In this talk, he will explore the complex relationship between readers, writers, and texts in the works of Argentine author Jorges Luis Borges and of Italian author Italo Calvino. While discussing both authors’ works, he will also touch on aspects of middle to late 20th century literary theory.
