About this Event

Journalism is essential to a thriving democracy, and it remains critical today as our society navigates new threats and rapid change. At the same time, the attention economy is transforming how Americans get their news and information, presenting new challenges and opportunities. At this year’s Minnesota Meeting, we’ll bring together innovators working locally and nationally to reimagine the future of journalism and bring our community together to ensure our news ecosystem continues to thrive.

The event will feature a lunchtime discussion with Kara Swisher, an award-winning podcast host, CNN contributor, and editor-at-large at New York Magazine who has reported on the tech industry since the 1990s. With unrivaled access to tech leaders who are shaping how people get their information, Swisher has a unique perspective on the enormous changes our society is undergoing and what’s ahead.

We’ll also hear from media leaders across Minnesota about the challenges they face and what they’re doing to survive, evolve, and continue fighting to ensure that all Minnesotans have access to reliable information.

What is the Minnesota Meeting?

For decades, the Minnesota Meeting was the go-to place for critical conversations about pressing issues of the day. Originally launched by Twin Cities business leaders in the ’80s, this event series was long hosted by the Minneapolis Foundation to provide a forum for public dialogue on topics ranging from economic equity to immigration. Today, the need for civil discourse has never been greater, and so we were excited to relaunch the Minnesota Meeting in 2024. Our goal is to provide a space where people across the region can come together to learn, share ideas, and get inspired to act on our community’s greatest needs.

This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required.
