About this Event
🌈 Mindful Science - The Sensory Bottle Experiment for ages 3–6
In this Friendship in the Feld workshop, children will explore the science of calm. Through hands-on experimentation with water, oil, and color, we’ll create beautiful sensory bottles — that shimmer, swirl, and slowly settle.
While mixing and observing, children will practice mindfulness, scientific curiosity, and emotional awareness — investigating the link between mind, body and breath.
This session is centered around combining STEM exploration with emotional regulation. These bottles serve as both a science project and a strategy for calm — a wonderful tool for independent emotional regulation and a soothing addition to any home calm area or reading nook.
🧪 We’ll explore:
- Density and suspension - through mixing oil and liquids
- Cause and effect - through mindful observation
- Mindful attention - the link between mind, body and breath
- Self-regulation through sensory focus

Further information: Our workshops are held in English, including read-alouds and songs. We are happy to provide German language support when needed. We will provide all craft and sensory materials as well as a caring and nurturing environment for safe and supported learning. We suggest you feed your child a small snack before the session, or have one available for afterwards. We will be providing coffee and tea for caregivers to enjoy while their children learn. If your child is comfortable with you doing so, caregivers may leave the event space, but we kindly ask you check-in with us first. In case your child is struggling to join or having big feelings, we ask you to stay nearby. Otherwise, we invite adults in attendance to stay, sit back, relax, and meet other parents. There is a toilet available for patrons but no changing table.
