WHAT: With Mind Miles, we're transforming mental health support into a beautiful, empowering experience. Combining movement, nature and community to create healing without stigma, pressure or barriers, Mind Miles is more than an event -- it's a habit, a mindset and a resource for those who care about bettering mental wellbeing for all. Register for Mind Miles walk here on Eventbrite, bring a friend and show up on April 17 in your best walking shoes. Mind Miles attendees will receive a wellness swag bag featuring top health brands and products!
WHERE: Meet at Lot I next to Brookside Park at 9:20 AM. Our walk begins promptly at 9:30 AM.
WHO: Anyone and everyone who is interested in their mental and physical wellbeing. Strollers and children are allowed. The Mind Miles walk host, Mrs. California Maggie Jackson, is a dedicated mental health advocate. As a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) partner, Maggie is proud to serve her community through public speaking, advocacy and fundraising. In addition to sharing her personal story of suicide loss and providing tips and resources for managing mental health at local schools and organizations, Maggie is certified in "Ending the Silence," a NAMI-sponsored presentation created for middle and high school aged students that creates awareness around mental health conditions, encourages students to take control of their own mental wellness and provides guidance on supporting struggling loved ones.
WHY: Mind Miles is an opportunity for people who care about their mental and physical health to connect with our community and move outdoors without judgment or barriers. Too often, people don't speak about mental health or seek professional help because of stigma, cost or fear of the unknown. Whether you personally have a mental health condition, know someone struggling, or simply want to care for your mind and body, Mind Miles is a relaxed event for you to meet with like-minded people who care.
IMPACT: As Maggie is a partner of the National Alliance on Mental Illnes, we hope you'll consider making a donation towards NAMI, which is the largest mental health nonprofit to help reduce stigma, fund community programs, and ensure no one faces mental health challenges alone.
