About this Event
How did tropical and rainforest plants make their way into English gardens?
Join us to see where Loddiges' famous Botanic Nursery Garden had once stood and learn how their plant trading transformed gardens around the world. We will hear stories from the plants themselves - how their ancestors were captured from home soil and brought to East London by sea.
As we walk by the now buried Palm House, we will listen to plant voices once stored in this vast 19th C greenhouse and hear of their migration stories and colonial histories.
We are meeting together outside or just inside the entrance of Hackney Picturehouse at 1.45pm. This event is wheelchair accessible and the walk is situated on level ground along quiet streets.
