About this Event
Introducing the Mig process class! This class will expose you to the fundamentals of MIG welding. Come see why this process is the choice for quick projects, artists, production needs, thin gauge materials and the backbone of the automotive industry.
Safety requirements: Long sleeve clothing made from natural materials (old cotton clothing you don’t mind getting dirty) is mandatory. Safety googles are provided and can acomodate prescription glasses(must be worn the duration of the class, can be purchased at Dollar store), wear closed toe shoes, no jewelry, hair must be tied back and/or have a cap or bandanna on.
PARTICIPANTS MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

Info: How to not injure yourself and keep yourself and your surroundings safe. How to use a fire extinguisher. An introduction to common tools such as the angle grinder, ban-saw, bench grinder and their safe operation. WHMIS

Material Prep
Info: How to best prepare the materials for the welding process and demonstrations of the safe use of the most common tools. Joint preparation is discussed. Difference between hot and cold rolled steel. When to use either and for what.

Welding Operations
Info: Introduction to the Auto Dark Helmet, Welding Theory, Practical Welding, Intro to MIG welder and its fundamentals of operations. How to tune your machine by sound. How best to utilize the process to your advantage, Welding Techniques for Flat and Horizontal positions, Trouble shooting your welds and troubleshooting common issues. Welding operations.
