About this Event
Limited Space. This workshop is also offered on Sunday, May 31st, 2:00 – 3:00 PM.
This exciting and unique workshop has toured Israel and Europe, and it’s finally here in Toronto! Renowned Israeli percussionist, Shauli Hedaya leads participants in using their hands and bodies to create the exotic rhythms of Israel and the Middle East. Through games, (attempts at) coordination drills, and sound exploration, participants use basic music rudiments to discover the mechanism of Body Percussion. By the end of the hour, the group will create rhythmic harmony!
Shauli Hedaya is an accomplished 29-year-old percussionist from Nataf, a small village near Jerusalem. He is a former member of the renowned Mayumana Rhythm Group, having performed with them internationally from 2021-2025. Shauli currently plays Afro-Cuban percussion with the Alsheikh Salsa Band. To share his love of rhythm and people, Shauli created the Middle Eastern Rhythm Body Workshop for all ages, taking it to enthusiastic crowds across Israel, Europe, North America and the Far East.
