Be sure to thoroughly clean your oven before bringing it to the clinic.
We've seen many microwave ovens at our clinics over the years, but our repair success is not so great. This clinic is an experiment to see if we can raise the bar!
The Library has purchased tools that will help us with safe diagnosis and repair:
High voltage probe to measure the 4,000 volt (!) magnetron circuit
Microwave leak detector to check that doors and seals are working properly
Eco-cycle / CHaRM (Center for Hard to Recycle Materials) has provided us with some to-be-recycled microwave ovens to either repair and give away, or harvest working parts to fix other ovens.
We're hoping to improve our repair skills, possibly creating some repair guides to help other clinics like ours around the world. We have had successes with repairing door interlock switches, fuses, control buttons, and other simple parts. The magnetron circuit has challenged us!
