Join us for a conversation between artist and writer Michael Corris and philosopher Philippe Chuard that explores the intersections of art and language. This conversation offers a rare opportunity to engage with two thinkers whose work bridges art, theory, and philosophy, inviting audiences to consider how contemporary artistic practice intersects with broader questions about perception, consciousness, and the production of meaning.

For more than five decades, Michael Corris has examined the conditions under which art is produced, interpreted, and circulated. Emerging from his early involvement with the Conceptual Art collective Art & Language, Corris’ practice spans writing, publishing, exhibition-making, and socially engaged projects. His work often moves fluidly between the studio, the page, and public space, reflecting a long-standing interest in how artistic practice expands beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. Corris’ artworks and writings are held in major public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Tate, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Dallas Museum of Art.

Philippe Chuard, a philosopher of mind and perception at Southern Methodist University, brings a complementary perspective grounded in cognitive science and philosophy. His research investigates the nature of conscious experience, particularly how we perceive time, sensory information, and the structure of our perceptual world.
