About this Event
Micaela Rae is a Toronto-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Growing up with a fascination for writing and storytelling, she took to playing guitar at the age of ten and began transitioning her stories into songs. She attended Humber Collegeβs jazz performance program as a voice major, where she fell in love with the genre, and began to take stylistic inspiration from great vocalists such as Sarah Vaughan, Anita OβDay, and Cecile McLorin Salvant. Micaela has performed around the city on stages like the Rex, and the Jazz Bistro, and has taken part in the Prince Edward County Jazz Festival, and the Beaches Jazz Festival. Her compositions are intricate, and call on the inspiration of voices like Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and Feist. Presently, Micaela is gearing up for the release of her debut EP, Saccharine, which is set for release in the spring of 2025.
