As a proud Continuing Education provider YW is offering Domestic Violence & Mental Health, a course to teach about the impacts of domestic violence (DV). This is an interactive course containing small group work and opportunities for discussion with other participants and the instructor. This 1-day, in-person course will explore mental health disorders for those impacted by domestic violence.

Target Audience: Social workers and related healthcare and human services professionals.

Content Level: Beginner to intermediate.

Credits: 5.0

Location: 1715 - 17 Ave. S.E. (YW Hub), 8:45am - 4:00pm

Cost: $175 (YWCA team members & post-secondary students can use promo code ED10 for a 10% discount.)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After attending the session participants will be able to:
1) explain the relationship between mental health concerns and domestic violence
2) list mental health concerns associated with domestic violence
3) select an evidence-based practice for a mental health concern related to domestic violence.

COURSE MATERIALS
Participants will receive a course manual and information booklet prior to the course commencing.
COURSE COMPLETION & EVALUATION
In order to receive ACE credits, participants must attend the full course, partial credits are not provided. Certificates of completion are emailed to participants within five business days of YWCE receiving their completed course evaluation.

Course evaluations will be emailed to participants who complete the course. The evaluations can be completed online. You will have up to three business days to complete the surveys.

REFUNDS
Course registrations cancelled five or more business days prior to the course are refundable less a 25% administration fee. Unfortunately, cancellations with less than five business days’ notice are not refundable.

You are welcome to transfer your registration to another person with at least two business days’ notice. Should you wish to transfer your registration please email [email protected]. Be sure to provide the workshop name and date, your name, and the name and contact information of the person who will be attending in your place.

COURSE CANCELLATION
Please note that if the advertised course instructor is unavailable, we reserve the right to assign another member of our team to deliver the course.

In the event that we need to cancel the course due to unforeseen and/or extenuating circumstances, we will honor registration and reschedule the course for another date. In the event that you are unable to attend on the new date, a full refund will be offered.

ACE PROVIDER STATEMENT
YW Calgary Continuing Education, provider 1785, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. YW Calgary Continuing Education maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 01/27/2026 to 01/27/2029. Social workers completing this course receive 10.0 continuing education credits.
