About this Event
Welcome to "Mental Health and Hospice Care" event!
Speaker: Annie Duehring MSW, LCSW
Mental health plays a vital role in hospice care, as patients and their families navigate complex emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges at the end of life. This presentation explores common concerns such as anxiety, depression, anticipatory grief, and caregiver stress, highlighting their impact on quality of life and decision-making. It also emphasizes the importance of continuing mental health treatment when facing a life-limiting illness. When patients, families, and hospice providers actively attend to these needs, it can lead to meaningful improvements in quality of life at the end of life.
Annie has been involved with hospice for over 20 years. She received her Masters in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Transitions LifeCare, Annie’s professional focus has been providing emotional support, psychoeducation, and counseling to individuals facing a life limiting illness and those who love or care for them.
